Juicing is the process of extracting juice from fruits and vegetables. This can be done several ways but the easiest is to use a juice extractor. By extracting the juice from produce, drinkers are able to consume large amounts of fruits and vegetables quickly. Juicing has been around for many years but has become popular with the development of a household appliance known as a Juicer. This appliance has brought the convenience of juicing to more people who are looking to live a healthier lifestyle. Knowing the Basics of Juicing

Juicing is popular in many countries and consumption per person is highest in Canada. The United States comes in second in juice consumption ahead of Germany and Austria. While juice consumption is done in many countries, there are only a few fruits and vegetables that are popular to juice. The most juiced fruit is oranges with apples coming in second. People are often surprised by the taste of vegetable juice combined with fruit juice. Most of the time you cannot taste the vegetable juice; only the fruit.

When you juice raw vegetables you are able to absorb more nutrients and antioxidants than you would if you were eating them. Some skeptics do believe that the cleansing benefits of juicing are psychological as there is not much scientific proof. Juicing is not recommended as a long-term diet but it does help your digestive system function more efficiently because it takes less energy to digest liquids.

Many people turn to juicing as a weight loss solution. As stated above, juicing is not meant to be a long-term diet but short term use can aid in minimal weight loss. One reason weight loss can occur is due to calorie reduction because you are consuming fruits and vegetables which are typically low-calorie. This, combined with regular exercise, will result in some weight loss. Another benefit of juicing is that it helps remove toxins from the body that disrupt digestion and metabolism.

Koreans have been using green juices in burial ceremonies for more than 2,000 years. Today, juicing is more of a healthy option to get your daily dose of fruits and vegetables. Appliance companies offer several types of juice extractors to give consumers a choice in how they want their juice. Masticating juicers can make more juice out of the same amount of vegetables. Centrifugal juicers offer a more-affordable juicing option. Triturating juicers retain the most nutrients but are the most expensive.

These juicers help to make up the culture of juicing that is being spread through documentaries such as Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. This documentary follows Australian Joe Cross as he travels across the U.S. and follows a 90-day juice fast to restore his health.
